Raising Sensitive Issues in a maternity setting

Domestic Violence

A free, open access, online training resource for health and social care professionals who wish to develop their skills in identifying and responding to domestic abuse. The resource is an example of good practice, but as it was developed in Leeds it is specifically tailored to their local circumstances. This resource is intended for self-directed use and not as part of a formal training session.

Parental substance misuse

One study has found that 62 per cent of children subject to care proceedings had a substance misusing parent. SCIE has produced a Parental substance misuse elearningresource which is designed to support social workers when working with families where a parent or parents are misusing drugs or alcohol. The modules look at defining and recognising substance misuse, the effects on families, the health and treatment options available and relationships within families.
